Yesterday incident involving a group of protesters, walking from a mosque to one embassy in order to demonstrate their disgust towards a political interference of that country in another country. However it’s currently and so widely reported in CNN, BBC or even Al Jazeera, Mr O had implicitly advised Mr M to step down to avoid any more untoward chaos in the latter’s country which eventually would affect the world as a whole. The oil price would increase and the stability of Middle East might be jeopardised. It’s funny though that the demonstrators were asking the Americans not to meddle. Were they confused? The Americans are being supportive towards the Egyptian peoples, but these confused outlaws were against the Americans on this issue. It’s weird, isn’t it?. Read the news in Malay Mail as follows:
“Thousands protest in front of US Embassy in KL. Do not interfere, US Govt told
Friday, February 4th, 2011 18:53:00
KUALA LUMPUR: In a show of support for the anti-government movement in strife-torn Egypt, thousands today marched to the US Embassy here. It was learnt the 2.30 pm protest was led by Pakatan Rakyat leaders and comprised of a number of NGOs.
The group, numbering about 2,000, marched from the KLCC mosque after Friday prayers to the Embassy to hand over a memorandum demanding the US Government not interfere in matters there. It was reported police, who succeeded in dispersing the crowd quickly, have detained seven alleged unruly protesters who police claimed were unruly, throwing bottles and had refused to disperse.”

Either they were confused or they were hoping this “Act of Demonstration” would become a pandemic and translated into a worldwide scenario. Ultimately, a government would be toppled even if it’s a legitimate and duly elected one. It’s just a wild guess!

It’s also laughable when reading a tweet which was retweeted by one ADUN from Selangor yesterday which read:
“Mubarak you are one, think of the Millions of Egyptian. The Millions of Egyptian are more important that You One Person!”.
In replying to it:
“remind us of One figure in Msia, because of him, the country is in chaos. It happened recently in Parliament.”
In short, these so called confused outlaws, they always say something but do the opposite. Remind me of one pepatah Melayu;

“Paku Dulang Paku Serpih, Mengata Orang, Dia Yang Lebih!”.

“Thumbs up for new bus terminal: The latest bus terminal in town has captivated travellers, especially those joining the balik kampung exodus for the Chinese New Year holidays. The Bandar Tasik Selatan Integrated Transportation Terminal (ITT) was a scene of happy faces yesterday as many headed south for the long weekend.”

When reading the above article in NST, I remember my trip to China recently. During the trip Mr C was so stressed because it seemed that some people urged the government to postpone the opening of the above said terminal. But Mr C was so adamant to ensure that the terminal to be opened on 1st January, and as a result, our Chinese friends are now enjoying the facility during this joyous festival. Of course, there are still some improvement need to be made, but the decision to open it before CNY was most welcome. Thumbs up Sir!

“MCA leaders to the forefront :The just-concluded Tenang by-election served as a test of sorts – if not a blessing in disguise – for MCA in getting back the Chinese support for Barisan Nasional and consolidating unity in the party.”

Meanwhile, after reading the Star, the above article really made me wandering that everybody is definitely entitled to their own opinion. MCA and DAP are fighting over Chinese votes, and “who is the winner?” as what my son always ask me, is depending totally on the strength of BN or PR. In other words, is not MCA or DAP per se who determine whether the rakyat will support either BN or PR, but the total contribution of all party component parties in each movement would eventually influence the rakyat as who would be in charge of Putrajaya. In conclusion, between a statistic and result, I definitely prefer the result!.

“MELAKA 1 Feb. – Presiden MCA, Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek hari ini meminta jentera parti itu memastikan undi kaum Cina untuk Barisan Nasional (BN) meningkat pada pilihan raya kecil Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Merlimau bulan depan.

Beliau berkata, momentum peningkatan 50 peratus undi masyarakat Cina kepada calon BN pada pilihan raya kecil DUN Tenang di Johor, Ahad lepas, harus diteruskan.”

After reading the above news reported in Utusan Malaysia today, I started to wander, who’s actually correct? Please read my previous post under the same title. Surely, both Datuk Seri Chua and YB Kula had their own sources when they drew a conclusion with regard to Chinese votes during recent by-election, otherwise they may not make such statement.

On the other note, a reporter from a local portal was barred from covering an event attended by our former premier, and in another portal it was apparently reported that all Non Malay reporters were actually barred from the event. No obvious reason was given by the organiser.

I read the news and it’s suggested that IMalaysia and NEM were heavily criticised. So, now the question is, which slogan is better, IMalaysia or Bangsa Malaysia?

Reading twitter is definitely informative. And by following the opposition leaders, you may get some ideas or information that you may not find in mainstream media. This post is apparently a speech by YB Kula in which inter alia stated:

“From the preliminary analysis, it is obvious that as consistent with past public survey findings, the Malay support or rather the rural Malay support for BN has increased. It also appears that there was increased Indian voter support for the BN candidate. This is an important area that PR must look into and quickly plan new strategies to win the people’s support.

Nevertheless, It is very encouraging to note that the Chinese support for the PR candidate in the Tenang by election has increased by some 10 %, despite the fact that the PR candidate is from PAS and MCA has campaigned hard on the Islamic state issue to frighten the Chinese voters.

Somehow MCA still believes that Islamic state issue is its “killer weapon” against the PR, especially the DAP”.

This finding should definitely be an eye opening for BN especially its Chinese leaders. Go Xi Fa Cai!.

Just recently, he was re-admitted to UMNO, and now as usual he is the busiest retiree in Malaysia. I guess, because of his love for his country, he is tirelessly putting his neck fighting for others. He defended Anwar before, he loved Pak Lah initially and now he is defending the new PM. Come on guys, he is already more than 80 years old, and yet he the one who is at the front against the might of foreign presses, to defend the PM of Malaysia.

I don’t mind if our own peoples criticise the PM, and in fact I welcome it. But if Malaysians are colloborating with foreign elements to tarnish our image by attacking our top leader, then something must be wrong somewhere. I think we should protect the Prime Ministership and not the Prime Minister. That’s why the political parties should always be aware of the consequences if they chose the wrong leader. We need a leader who can defend the country and not just busy defending himself or herself. We want a leader who regard Malaysia as his main and sole agenda and not his political survival. Unfortunately, in Malaysia regardless of parties, apparently our politicans are good at championing their personal goals than rakyat as a whole.

Nevertheless, it’s too soon to tell the performance of our PM, but I wish he should have learnt from past mistakes (his own or others) like we all should. We are so lucky compared to the PM, because we are not to be judged by public like him. Conversely, the Public is actually the real PM, who determine the right person to be delegated with powers to rule and to serve and not the other way around. Let the Public decides who they want to be their defender. Actually, PM is supposed to be the Public Defender and not the Public is the Defender of the PM. But is it right? Ironically, most of the times, and sometimes even in a traffic jam, we must give a way to the PM or his wife and not the other way around..such a pity!!!.

Image via Wikipedia

Dear Mr Prime Minister..

1) To differentiate clearly between UMNO and BN from the Government. UMNO and BN are political parties which under democratic system have been empowered to form a federal government. The Government is regulated under the principles of Separation of Powers, Rule of Law and Constitutional Monarchy who is answerable not only to members of political parties but more importantly to the citizens as a whole. The Federal and State Government is founded under democratic system which is to ensure that the Government can implement its laws and policies smoothly and efficiently.
It’s a conventional practice (also a branch of laws) that the President of UMNO shall automatically become the Prime Minister of Malaysia. But this practice should not tantamount to a guarantee or label that UMNO is Government and Government is UMNO. President of UMNO and Prime Minister of Malaysia are two different entities/institutions and a clear line should be drawn to distinguish each other. As such, whenever Najib talks as A Prime Minister, the peoples would understand that the message is for them and just for BN or UMNO. The UMNO and BN members must also realise, Najib is accountable to all and not just them.

2) Do not ever threaten or intimidate the non-supporters of BN like saying that the opposition leaders are hopeless peoples. It would create hatred among Malaysian peoples. Let UMNO and BN do it. It is a clear difference between politic and government administration. If he condemns and criticize oppositions or others when he is wearing a Prime Minister’s hat, he actually puts himself in a defensive mode WHENEVER he is trying to put forward his agenda, because the targeted audience would be limited to his supporters and not his detractors. He just needs to explain in simple and inspiring terms and language for everybody and leave rhetorical speeches during UMNO or BN assembly.

3) Instruct other UMNO leaders not to raise racial sentiments like what Zahid did recently. Being part of the Government, he should not do that. Let UMNO, its member or members of the Supreme Council who are not in government to take up that role. No point for them to be there if they do not champion the Malays’ causes.

4) To come up with a catchy tagline, motto or brand for UMNO and BN. “BN for All”, “BN to Serve not to Rule”, “BN is the Future”, “UMNO sayang Semua”, “UMNO Kampungku, BN Milikku dan Semua”, “Your Future is BN”, “UMNO untuk Semua”, “UMNO sayang Melayu” and others. BN can no longer rely on racial issues to be a champion. This approach is getting absolete. BN must be forward thinking and see history as a guideline and not a precedent. Najib must steer Malaysia, BN and UMNO along this line. Rakyat comes first, party comes second.

5) To come up with a new oath for all Malaysians. More inspiring than Rukunegara or modify it insuch a way that everytime we read it, we would be the proud Malaysians. And this oath must be read in any government fuctions. It is a universal and standard oath to Malaysian in which among other things, spelt out about bribery, good governance and excellent service. It will become Malaysian aspiration of this nation and government. Talk to the oppositions in formulating its content, so that everybody would accept. The bypartisan approach must be adopted if the outcome is intended to benefit the nation as a whole. Rakyat (the citizen) would definitely appreciate this move.

I remember reading about the arguments by Dr Mahathir when he explained the justification of buying MV Agusta i.e one day Malaysia would probably produce a small capacity motorcycle. By buying Agusta, Proton can shorten the R&D process and reduce its cost. But unfortunately some peoples did not share his idea. Now Proton has embarked on a quest to produce an electric car, which innovative venture being undertaken by many companies in the world. As usual, we always want to compete and to follow and not to lead or to create.

Sometimes, I wonder whether we are content that Malaysia is just a manufacturing country where the consumers can find foreign international products not to mention fake items. We provide semi-skilled workers in factories, producing several items invented by foreigners. We then follow in trying to produce the same products hoping to compete in a global market. I am trying to recall any products that were invented or created by Malaysians, the first thing comes to my mind is Tongkat Ali, but even the end product from this herbs is the outcome of research by foreigners.

I suppose Malaysians do not have the drive to lead the world. We just like to follow and play safe all the times. No wonder, no great achievement can be put in a list that we can really be proud of. May be the first astronaut from Malaysia, Im not entirely convinced though, or like some said it’s just a space tourism. We are sometimes proud of our lacklustre performance excessively. We reward our peoples prematurely. Just because we won in olympic games, regardless of its prestige, we want to call him or her “Datuk”, even he/she are still young. This is the result if the politcians play too much narrow-minded politics. May be, we think whatever we do, we must gain something for ourselves, then we would only do it.

Due to free trade, global financial and digital consumerism, the world is getting smaller. It seems that time is ticking uncontrollably, we may be left behind too far without we realise it. We need to stress on the R&D Development, Technology Invention and Rebranding Malaysia. We must think far ahead and not just waiting everything to be put in place by others and we follow. In 5 years time, the world might become robotic, more advanced biotecnological and open sourcing. And I am afraid that Malaysia at that time is still struggling to find its own image, brand and niche. So, come on Malaysians!!!

Image via Wikipedia

Listening to the the speech of the new President of UMNO recently, I cannot help but to draw one ultimate conclusion, that UMNO is on the brink of collapse if it does not transform fast. Looking at the results of the party election, I am of the opinion that the practice of dishonesty such as money politic, abuse of power or position is still rampant in UMNO. There were many speculation and conclusion that have been made from all sorts of voices, but I am still sceptical of the party direction in future. Mahathir as usual, had made a grand re-entry for the purpose of regaining confidence and support, but it would not generally change the perspective or perception of the peoples in general towards UMNO. I felt like laughing my heart out when witnessing the top leaders of UMNO kissing Mahathir’s hand were the same leaders who urging the party to sack Mahathir from UMNO, the same leaders who were quiet when Mahathir was outcast…that’s a reality of politic in UMNO.

In general, UMNO is comprised of honest peoples, but due to some bad apples, its credibility has been tarnished beyond repair. There are a basket of dishonest peoples in UMNO, and they are not just the leaders but also the followers. In party election, may be the contestants did not give any monetary reward to the voters, which i doubt it did not happen, but using one position as a minister to reward a contract, it’s also deemed as dishonest action. By giving a non monetary kick back, it may also tantamount to bribery and abuse of power. And normally the contestants who are holding the important positions in government, or being the bankable ministers(good ministries), they would normally win. And the fact that, the divisions which later on, would get a new facility, like a community hall, a school, or a road, were the ones who elected the said ministers. The culture of “quid pro quo” is strong in UMNO. You scratch my back, i scratch yours. The members would normally support the leader, who they think will eventually help them or privy to powers like can help in getting his children to a good school or may help them to get a better treatment from government agency and so on.

The examples of dishonesty that I mention herein, may be in the eyes of certain quarters, as not serious compared to real act of bribery or stealing, but the amount of this unwarranted acts overwhelms such crimnal acts. This action is amounting to “quasi” to the actual criminal or unethical acts and as a result, the abuse of power will be trangressed. This small trangression will lead to a bigger one, until they themselves do not know, what is right and what is wrong. It always a justification to unethical acts and it seems acceptable to everybody. If that so, UMNO will perish a bit by bit from this world. God forbids.
Related articles by Zemanta

Umno Youth Corrupt For Electing Khairy (warkah.com)

Mahathir Will Rejoin UMNO (warkah.com)
